Parks & Cemeteries
The Parks and Cemetery department is responsible for lighting, weed control
and ground care at the municipal airport, two cemeteries, six parks, city hall
and downtown parking lot planters.

At the same time, the department maintains various park facilities, such as playground equipment and picnic shelters. The department has three full-time and three part-time employees.
Ontario's parks offer a variety of opportunities for recreation. Tennis courts are available at two locations, two baseball diamonds are located at Beck Kiwanis Park, basketball courts are offered at Eastside Park, and all of the city's parks are great places to hold a family reunion, though anyone planning a get together should bring their own barbecue; no pits are available. Picnic shelters are available through reservations at City Hall (541-881-3210).

Arrangements for the city's two cemeteries are typically made through funeral homes. Burials are usually scheduled Monday through Friday, and Saturdays by special arrangement.
Recreation
The Recreation Department is responsible for organizing, directing and
scheduling all recreational activities. Together with the Aquatic Center, the
combined departments annually provide more than 60 different activities which
generate a total attendance of more than 85,000 youth and adults. This
department has 2 full-time employees and numerous seasonal and part-time
employees.
There are a wide variety of activities available through the Recreation Department. Pre-School, adult, youth and pre-school craft classes are offered throughout the year. Contact the department for a more complete list of classes and schedules.

The department also organizes sports leagues for adult volleyball, basketball and softball, as well as youth soccer, tennis lessons, softball, basketball and volleyball leagues. The department even operates a ski bus to Brundage Mountain in McCall during the ski season.
Aquatics
The Ontario Aquatic and Fitness Center offer a tremendous variety of
opportunities for people of all ages to swim, lift weights or do aerobic
exercises. Swim lessons are available year-round, and the center's two pools
and jacuzzi offer the chance for swimmers to swim laps, do water aerobics,
splash around or just soak.

Step aerobics and toning classes are offered throughout the week. Step aerobics are offered early at 6 a.m. Monday and Wednesday, again at 5:30 p.m. Monday - Thursday. Toning classes happen at 6 a.m. on Tuesday and Thursday. Yoga is offered Friday mornings at 6:00am Contact the center to confirm times.

Exercise classes are available |
The exercise and weight rooms are open during regular business hours.
American Red Cross First Aid, CPR and life guarding classes are also available for those interested in gaining certification. Call for more information.
Costs to use the center vary by age: daily costs range from $3.50 for seniors, $3.00 for children 12 and under, and $4.00 for ages 13-61 One-month passes, three-month passes, 20-visit punch passes and yearly memberships are all available. The Ontario Aquatic Center also offers an Employee Group Discount to area businesses. Call the Aquatic Center for information.
